Default Ability to Inspect Other players' equipment

World of Warcraft has an interesting option that I think would benefit Guild Wars and perhaps help a better creation of parties and avoid the usual disappointments from having a noob or a slacker in your party. When you target another player you have to ability to left click his name and inspect his whole equipment! Therefore you know what type of armor, weapons, runes and so forth the guys in your party wear, allowing to kick out the high level noobs who went through the whole game running or staying at the start of mission as their equipment will probably belie their ill-gained high xp. Added to that, I am a curious lad and I would really appreciate to be able to "check out" a cool character or player met in a town or in party!
Let me know what you think of this idea.

or...

"STRATIN L33T PARTY FOR THK - NED 4 MUNKS AND 3 WA/MOS - 15^50 FIRY DARGON SORDZ ONLY PLZZZZZZZ"

See?

Not really, cause FDS or anything weapon can we used, I doubt EVERY group if not 1 or 2 will look for a 15^50 all perfect items for the whole party.

Why inspect the armor theres nothing wrong with what people use in your party, never had an incident when peoples items in the party affected gameplay.

irrelavent.

only exception is, it be nice to check if the party members have infused armour. Only on the last 4-5 missions. Like a x/5.

Its frustrating as a heal monk... they die in 2 secs...

fds user - "zOMG monk you noob!!!! REZ!!!"
me - "wtf? are you infused?"
fds user - "whats infused?!?"
*mass rage quit*
me - ffs

Why can't you just ask them to see their equipment?

Not a fan of this idea. See FFXI. Also, Guild Wars is not so difficult that we need to make sure everyone is wearing top gear.

I can't see how it would make a difference either way. The only complaint I would have is if it was added, and I was informed when someone inspects me; that used to bug me to no end in EQ (thankfully there was an option to turn it off).

So, I don't think it's a bad addition.

Also, if a group is actually "speaking" like that and is adding only players for their equipment (ie, are that dependant on gear), chances are, in a skill based game like GW, they are gonna really stink and not worth joining with to begin with. Just my opinion.

i could afford dozens of perfect mesmer weapons, and pay to have my mesmer plvled to 20; and thus not learn how to use them well in the meantime. equipment does not usually equal skill. since if someone has fow armor and whatnot, it means they have at least been there, and chances are, play the character with at least some regularity but at the same time, they could have ebayed the materials and payed a service group to run them to the forgemaster.
anyway, i think you get the point.

absolutely not.
It is your fault if you don't know what droks armor looks like.
Im sure if the player has godly items, he wont mind showing you them anyway.

Why would you even say just because someone has FoW armor they know how to play? or even go there regularly? Just means they have money and know some people that got them to the armor guy to buy it.

I don't want to hear worthless banther like "OMG! You only have that equipment. You suck!", "What a weak loser, go buy some max weapons.", and other such nonsense. Giving people the ability to spy on your equipment/stat would only give the elitists yet another weapon to make themselves feel mightier than others.

So, how can I tell the difference between droks and LA tats for monks (just to pick one type) when they look exactly the same ?

A suggestion I was going to make soon was to display the AL of a person. Well, not the actualy AL, since that would make everyone have to take the highest base AL they can, even if it doesn't fit your build. I will post it once I work around that problem

ok...

1. Gear isin't extremely important in GW, it can help, and in some cases a great deal, but so far I've haven't seen one case in PvE (save not being infused) that gear would make or break whatever. PvP wise, definently helps to have "perfect" items that are actualy properly modded(a.k.a. not most greens...) The only reason you should even care about gear quality in PvE is infusion, or on say warriors that are generaly supposed to be taking all the aggro in PvE(hence a warrior in infused pre-searing starter armor at THK.. just isin't a good cantidate for your party).

How to check infusion: Ask to see 5 pieces of infused armor in trade window before you start the mission/quest/zone into any area.

How to check your tanks AL: Exact same thing as you do for infusuion.

You shouldn't need to check anyone elses AL, since if your party has a decent understanding of the aggro system, no one else except the "tank" should actualy be attacked. If your softies are going to get attacked... Perhaps bring some sort of speed buff//snare so they can kite. Infact save the case where your warrior has no clue, you don't need to check AL.

If you want to see someones gear, just ask nicely.

As for displaying the AL of a person, due to how that's actualy calculated it wouldn't work, unless you averaged the AL of every piece, even though they have a different % chance to be struck... Then we have the conditional +al bonus, which can't really be factored into that... Basicaly it wouldn't work no matter what you did.

Because that is a tedious, cumbersome waste of time and the idea in the original post is much faster and more convenient. It is a great idea.
